Children of Amethyst
Children of AmethystAmethyst gives children a safe place to grow. At Amethyst, our primary clients are women struggling with addiction and homelessness. But the children of these women also have much to gain from our services. Hear how Amethyst has impacted the lives of some of our younger residents. Ashley's Story When my mom went into recovery at Amethyst, things changed drastically. We got to see her more and the home cooked meals started again. We had a place to live where we were safe and didn’t have to worry about being evicted like we had so many times before… This organization gave me my mom back. Now, I have two dreams for myself. One is to become an elementary school teacher and the other is to become a good mother. I want to be the kind of teacher that will help children develop self-esteem and flourish, and the kind of mother that my mom is. Yes, there were hard times through her addiction before she got into recovery, but I always knew she loved me, and after her recovery we were able to develop a relationship that is stronger than most parents have with their children. I am currently enrolled in school full time and hope to begin teaching in the fall of 2012.” View Ashley’s Video |
