Helping women who enter our treatment programs begins with understanding their unique needs.

At Amethyst, we know the women who turn to us for help face a variety of challenges, including those that come with being a mother, partner, and caregiver. Addiction creates a stigma that is especially oppressing for women, leading to feelings of shame, guilt, despair, and fear. What’s more, many women come from families, friendships, and relationships where substance use is prevalent. For them, the decision to enter recovery could mean the loss of friends, family, significant others, and access to financial stability.
