Breaking the cycle of addiction, poverty and violence for women and their children.
Long-term, alcohol and drug treatment
We offer drug and alcohol treatment with individual treatment plans, weekly
counseling, weekly individual case management, and five self-help support
meetings a week. We expect that women will benefit from at least two years
of supportive services.
Counseling to heal from the trauma of abuse
Our program model addresses issues that sabotage recovery and attempts at
independence, such as the trauma of physical and sexual abuse, attachments
to unhealthy interpersonal relationships, grief and loss issues, limited
education and job skills or experience.
Safe, affordable housing in a community of recovery
While women participate in the alcohol and drug treatment program, they
live in Amethyst’s community of recovery and peer support. Creating
a stable, drug-free environment helps the women to build a sober support
network.
Education and employment readiness for economic independence.
We provide opportunities from volunteering, learning how to manage paychecks
and GED attainment to higher education, employment and beginning a career.
Breaking the cycle of addiction and poverty
We encourage the children of our clients to live with their mothers in our
supportive housing and be a part of the treatment plan. Amethyst provides
family counseling and counseling for the children that helps heal families
from the effects of addiction. |
